When the season changes, make sure you have the right tire

There are so many tire options! But don't worry - we can help! Finding the right tires for your vehicle and the season ahead is important to keep you safe on the road.

All-seasons

All-season tires give good grip in a wide range of weather conditions. They offer traction on dry roads, and their tread patterns are designed to provide decent traction on wet roads, light snow, and slush.

Winter tires

In Alberta, temperatures often drop below 7°C, so it's important to switch to winter tires. These specialized tires feature a unique tread pattern and remain pliable even at temperatures as low as -40°C, providing superior traction on icy, snowy, and slushy roads.

Performance tires

Performance tires, also called summer tires, are made to give excellent performance when cornering at high speeds in hot, dry, and warm wet weather. Do not drive on performance tires in cold weather or snowy conditions -  they do not have the necessary traction.

Ford's tire-match promise

Team Ford FAQ

Who makes Ford parts?

Ford and Motorcraft make real, genuine Ford parts.

What is the difference between genuine Ford parts and aftermarket parts?

Ford manufactures parts that are the same as the ones that were in your new Ford. They are long-lasting and are engineered for a perfect fit. Aftermarket parts are imitations of Ford parts and won't last as long and may not fit properly.

Is there a Ford parts shortage currently?

Ford is experiencing very few parts shortages. At Team Ford, we have Ford Genuine Parts and Motorcraft parts in stock. We can help you select the part that is right for your vehicle.

Is there a global supply chain issue?

Yes, global supply chain issues continue and the auto industry is affected. Team Ford can help you get the right parts and get you on your journey as quickly as possible.

Will buying aftermaket parts void my Ford vehicle warranty?

Not always, but it is an important question to ask so that you know one way or the other. However, if these aftermarket products malfunction or adversely impact another part of your Ford vehicle, your New Vehicle Limited Warranty will automatically become void. In addition, he cost of repairs won't be covered by the warranty.

Are aftermarket parts covered by my insurance?

It could.  The answer to this question depends on:

  • Your policy
  • The insurer
  • Whether the aftermarket parts replaced a genuine part or were added as an enhancement.

If the aftermarket part purchased was to replace a genuine part, please check with your insurance provider to see if it will be covered. As well, look at the rules of your New Vehicle Limited Warranty regarding the replacement of that part.

What does it cost to replace a Ford part?

The price of every part is different and depends on its complexity and size.  If we install the part for you, there could also be labor costs.

How long does it take Ford to deliver parts and accessories?

Team Ford has hundreds of Ford genuine parts and accessories - don’t have to worry about a wait!

If we need to order something directly from Ford Canada,  it will usually arrive in one to two business days. We will update you via the email address you used to place the order if there are delays.

How much does it cost to replace a Ford tire?

The cost of replacing a Ford tire will depend on:

  • The Ford model
  • Which trim level your Ford is and the corresponding tire size
  • The tire brand you select
  • Which tire type you currently have (ie. all-season, performance, or winter).

How long do Ford factory tires last?

Your tires are made to last between three to five years, or up to 80,000 km.  But how long a tire will last depends on your driving style, driving conditions, and your vehicle maintenance.

Here is how to extend the life of your tires:

  • Check your tires for damage and air pressure readings once a week
  • Try to avoid excessive wear, which can happen with hard cornering, quick acceleration, and sudden braking
  • Keep up with tire maintenance and have your alignment checked and tires rotated.

How often should I replace my tires?

If you cover an average of between 20,000 to 24,000 km a year, your tires will last between three to five years. But the life of your tires will depend on the following:

  • How many kilometers are driven each year
  • If you follow scheduled vehicle maintenance
  • Your driving habits and style
  • Road conditions.
