For someone who doesn’t drink coffee, Finance Manager Gislaine Correia has more than enough energy to go around. A consistent sales performer over her 10 years at Go Auto, Gislaine keeps the team at Team running thanks to her infectious enthusiasm, hard work, and ability to find common ground and bridge the gap with everyone she works with.
Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Gislaine moved to Canada with her family when she was young. Going from Sao Paulo, with a population of 12.18 million (in the city alone), to Saskatoon was a bit of a shock. After high school, Gislaine and a friend packed up and moved to Edmonton—a substantially bigger city than Saskatoon—and might’ve moved again had she not had her two boys, ages 12 and 6. Staying close to their Brasilian heritage, both boys are busy with soccer, including her oldest son who’s currently in a soccer academy. And no matter how well behaved they are, the two of them constantly running around keeps things busy at home— to say the least.
Now, it’s tough to tell how much of it is nature and how much of it is nurture, but even if the kids weren’t hardwired to stay moving, Gislaine and her husband are constantly moving and setting a strong example for the kids by being physically active all the time. Gislaine picked up powerlifting alongside her husband, and while he does it competitively, she just loves constantly challenging herself and improving. Perhaps she herself was hardwired, following in the footsteps of her father who worked tirelessly to create a better life for his children; as it stands, Gislaine has been working odd jobs since she was 12. With all this activity and movement, we wonder if Gislaine ever gets a chance to relax—and that’s where the yoga comes in. Providing balance, in more ways than one, Gislaine loves to practice hot yoga for the physical benefits, as well as the mental; when she does yoga, being about “as close to turning off” as she gets.
Gislaine brings this balance into Team Ford every single day, creating a fun and friendly team environment. So, if you need help with financing, or anything else, come see Gislaine. She’s sure to give you a lift.
