There’s a lot to consider when buying a Ford truck, especially when you have very specific purposes for it. If there’s one thing you have to factor when getting a lot of stuff done, it’s size— and I mean SHEER SIZE. Looking for a Ford truck that handles everything you’re doing can be difficult. Luckily, Team Ford Edmonton is here to help you make an informed decision about our select Ford trucks.
The good news is that most Ford trucks have similar designs and builds, so you don’t have to worry about the stresses of indecisiveness. Since we’re comparing the largest truck sizes available, we’ll be looking at the maximum dimensions for each Ford truck model. This means we’ll be looking at the F-150 SuperCrew Cab 6.5-ft. Styleside, as well as 4 different Super Duty truck models: the F-250, F-350 (both SRW & DRW), and the F-450 Crew Cab 8-ft. cargo box. The Single Rear Wheel (SRW) drive and the Double Rear Wheel (DRW) drive both have different dimensions, so we’ll have to take that into consideration when comparing our four (technically five) different models
We made a table for you to compare the exterior dimensions of each truck, just to make things easier for you. Otherwise, we won’t compare the interior dimensions between each truck since they’re the same for each model.
|Truck||Ford F-150 (SuperCrew Cab, 6.5-ft. Styleside)||Ford F-250 SRW (Crew Cab, 8-ft cargo box)||Ford F-350 SRW (Crew Cab, 8-ft cargo box)||Ford F-350 DRW (Crew Cab, 8-ft cargo box)||Ford F-450 DRW (Crew Cab, 8-ft cargo box)|
|Wheelbase||3983 mm.||4470 mm.||4470 mm.||4470 mm.||4470 mm.|
|Overall Length||6190 mm.||6761 mm.||6761 mm.||6761 mm.||6761 mm.|
|Cab Height||1963 mm.||2065 mm.||2060 mm.||2057 mm.||2057 mm.|
|Width (w/ Standard Mirrors)||2459 mm.||2690 mm.||2690 mm.||2690 mm.||2690 mm.|
|Track Width – Front||1717 mm.||1735 mm.||1735 mm.||1735 mm.||1900 mm.|
|Track Width – Rear||1717 mm.||1707 mm.||1707 mm.||1897 mm.||1897 mm.|
From the looks of it, the majority of the exterior dimensions on the Super Duty trucks are larger than the Ford F-150 aside from a few instances where the rear track width of the F-250 and F-350 SRW were shorter. Otherwise, every Super Duty truck at maximum dimensions are larger than the F-150.
When making comparisons each Super Duty truck, a lot of the dimensions are the same except for the cab height and the track width for both the front and the rear of the vehicle. The F-250 leads the way in cab height with 2065 mm while the dimensions decrease with each model. However, when comparing both front and rear track width, it’s clear that the F-450 is wider than its predecessors.
The clear winner for this comparison is the Ford F-450 in the Super Duty line. With that being said, it’s only larger than by a few hundred millimeters, and that’s only if you compare just two different categories in the exterior dimensions. Otherwise, a lot of the dimensions between these trucks are very similar and are all capable of handling whatever you’re putting it through.
And let’s not forget: size isn’t everything. There are other things to consider when buying a Ford truck, such as power and fuel economy. That’s why we recommend building and pricing your own Ford vehicle to fit your personal preferences, whether you want something with a larger build, or with a little more power from one of our EcoBoost engines—why not both? Treat yourself! Otherwise, we’ve got a lot of used Ford vehicles for you to choose from as well.
