The Ford F-150 has continued to be one of – if not the – most popular ½ ton pickups on the road. This is no accident though, only through continuous advancement and updates has the F-150 continued to hold on to its popularity. So with the 2018 version having just arrived, Team Ford has decided to break down the updates the 2018 Ford F-150 has received so you can make an informed choice!
For 2018 Ford has introduced an all-new base V6 engine as well as revised the current engines for better torque and power. Here’s how they break down:
|3.3L Ti-VCT V6||290 hp||265 lb-ft|
|2.7L EcoBoost V6||325 hp||400 lb-ft|
|5.0L Ti-VCT V8||395 hp||400 lb-ft|
|3.5L EcoBoost V6||375 hp||470 lb-ft|
In combination with the revised engines, every Ford now comes standard with an advanced 10-speed automatic transmission. This new transmission includes a Tow/Haul mode as well as a Sport mode to ensure it always matches your mood. Plus, thanks to its greater breadth of ratios, this new transmission improves both acceleration and fuel economy!
For 2018 the F-150 now comes with an Automatic Stop/Start system which shuts off the engine when you’re at a stop to help save fuel! The system then restarts the engine the instant you lift off the brakes to get going again. This feature can now be found on every trim level of the F-150 to help maximize your fuel economy.
There’s not much point in making all these changes under the skin and having the vehicle look exactly the same, so Ford has restyled the F-150’s front and rear to make it stand out. The front now incorporates a two-bar grille with revised headlights, while the rear tailgate is now stamped with “F-150” to ensure everyone knows exactly what you’re driving!
